Interviewing For My Job

This whole blogging thing today made otherwise troubling interview questions a matter of breezy recall. Or maybe it was that nine months ago I was interviewing for the same job with the same two people, answering the same set of questions.

This whole “probationary teacher” thing has gotta go, as far as I’m concerned.

  1. Probably my youthful perspective here but I see the evaluation process to be pretty integral to teacher quality, even w/ veterans, especially when it’s done well. But then I also think filling out my name/address/telephone on the same form two years in a row to be impossibly unfair, so, kids these days, right?

  2. I’m with you, dan. The entire system of review for teachers only encourages more red tape, not better teaching. The review system should be in place to give us the tools we need to do our jobs better. Like much of what’s happening in public education, teacher evaluations are regularly a whole lot of form with no substance.
