Chris Dede just played this video in his early-bird seminar here at Innovative Learning without apparent irony:

I mean did anybody see The Devil Wears Prada?! Anne Hathaway went insane from the non-stop multi-tasking. Is it too much to ask for a little restraint even as we prepare our students to compete with the Chinese / Indian economic menace, etc.? Where's Dina.

Maybe it was “secret” irony. Maybe it was “I’m so ironic, you can’t even tell I’m ironic” irony.

@Jackie, couldn’t tell you exactly but it was the usual new literacies are necessary for kids who multi-task and learn differently, etc.

Sorry, missed that. I’m too busy curling my eyelashes and calling my fake Italian lover while grabbing Starbucks between classes so that I can be properly emotionally maimed by my meglomaniacal principal in stilettos. This is the REAL world, people.

How is it possible to show that video without irony?

Sounds like a great conference. Really makes me regret not spending more time on the circuit.

As long as you are using them all at the same time, you are *so* 21st century. Better yet, have your calendar text your cell phone when it’s time to re-apply your Thai crystal stone deodorant, cuz that stuff don’t work at all.

I clicked on your link to Christopher Dede and it all became clear. The guy doesn’t work in an inner city school where the poverty rate is the highest in the nation.

or do we educate our students for the way the world is?

Not saying that the world is really this way (or will be).

BTW – I never bothered watching Devil Wears Prada – so what exactly is supposed to be ironic?
